to 'the poms' .....

Hi Swifty

As an ex Zimbi, know how you feel about becoming a “pom”, I became one last year, before they brought in all this new good citizen stuff…ie can you speak english? Having been born in Zimbabwe, been a citizen of that once great place, before having them robbing b… decide chuck all us farming folk out, I decided to settle here in blightey after a stint trying to farm in Tanzania… In protest, I painted my board in the Tanzanian colours… Next project after the “Matchstick” is going to have a Union Jack!!

Hope you get some good surf out south, just watch out for the big fish, heard there have been a few nasty close shaves out that way lately…

Ben, I notice that you are a “master” now.

(Is that your “slave” in your new avatar?)

Sounds very Zen…!! BWAHAHAHAHA

Hey Ben…keep on pommie bashing…they deserve everything they get…here in Cymru we prefer to call them “saeson”…

Actually my missus is one so I only insult them out of earshot…some o them have got vile tempers…

Kudu, that’s funny you’re talking about the Union Jack: just yesterday I checked Google about some films by Rodney SUMPTER in the 70’s and I found this:

Looks like Rodney used to have his boards painted that way when he was a hot junior and he’s having copies being made today for sale. I do remember seeing one of these boards here in France as I was just starting surfing (1966). It was the rage, back then…

Hi Balsa, Yeah Rodney Sumpter is selling them here for a nice tidy sum!! Has an advert on the A1Surf website…Boards do look nice though, not sure where he is getting them made though?

Hey Silverback…you really don’t want to start taking the mickey out of the poms, Wales is a helluver nice place, but is the butt of MANY jokes…!! Are you coming up to ride the bore in March?

Hey Ben…hows your rugby team doing these days down under, still rebuilding…or is that the cricket team…?

speaking of poms [you’re one, after all , you por dude!] , I noticed you’re a “master” now ??? Is that as in a “master fart-blaster” , or is it because you do two posts a day , which you edit eight times each ? [‘sir wanksa’ has it sussed , it must be a ‘ben’ [t?] thing , maybe].

Gggzgzzttt!

Say what you will about the poms. But their comedies are some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen. Anyone remember Basil saying “Whatever you do DONT mention the war!”

I’d love too! - I shaped a friend a 9 7 x 24" longboard a few years ago…do you think this’d be ok?

never surfed it before…for shame on me!

Wildy,

Y’re Aussie? I thought your were a Gringo (Colorado) ?? (so either way, yr Haole too) heeeeee

Saludos,

Yeah mate, about as aussie as a white man can be, which of course is originally pom many generations ago.

After travelling a fair bit I found that localism is a very narrow minded outlook, and both happily and sadly, surfers are some of the most open and narrow minded souls on the planet.

The world is very small and we all live here, but there are still a few secret spots. I won’t tell you mine if you don’t tell me yours, so smile and catch a wave for me next time you’re out.

“boardcrazy” , you’re lurking …

WHAT have you been up to ?

let us know eh ?

cheers !

ben

Don’t know how about the rest of the UK guys, but I can’t get blanks at the moment so a new solution is called for, has anyone tried the big EPS foam slabs from B&Q for an epoxy board.

And for all you tribal savages out there, be good gentlemen have a nice cup of tea, keep a stiff upper lip and long live the Queen!!

cheers Joe

Wilco!

Speaking of Pommy comedies, “The Office” (the original UK one) is by far the funniest TV show of all time, with the possible exception of the Flying Circus. Long live the BBC!

Yep, 9-7 will do… I suggest you read up a bit about it, where the best places are to go to start out. Over bridge is a good place to learn as it’s a fairly straight run up from there and on a good day breaks bank to bank. Wipeout lounge down by the Severn Bore Inn is another good spot but can be crowded with kayakers. There is no surfing like it, sea surfing is such a short thrill as the runs are so short, my shortest run is 800 meters, which is like 3 minutes…don’t get many 3 minute rides on sea breaks do you? There is also a great spirit amongst all the bore riders, its very relaxed and laid back. Nothing like a bit of toxic mud to even everyone out hahahaha!

Hey Joe, have seabase sold out of blanks now as they had some stock a few weeks ago, although their prices had rocketed. What about Homeblown?

Have thought about the B&Q material, my thoughts were if you are going to use that stuff you need to go down the Burger route and vacbag it.

Ok then…I’ll do some research and try to get there…excited by the idea

See ya there…I’ll definitely recognise your board!

POM = Piece of mind you numpties, don’t you get taught anything. Ah swifty be right we’ve been kept rather busy what with swell and board making and as for wales, you actually have to pay to get out of the country let alone get in.

Still i’m quite disapointed in the distinct lack of pommies sticking up for themselves on here. Haven’t yet had to kill swifty as i didn’t get him to the secret spot this weekend but if don’t here from him for a while then you’ll know what’s happened to him.

Anyway here’s my latest and chippants you’ll no doubt be pleased to see it’s a single fin.

Cheers KS

Hey kite…

Good jibe…but untrue…severn bridge just rob on the way into the country now…well for the last 10 years actually…

Nice looking board…like the swirls.

Reason that the english don’t stand up for themselves is self confidence!

Compare what happens when chippy insults the americans…

I guess the english are just entertained by any kind of jibe…I base this on my missus, she is never ruffled or bothered by this kind of stuff…an inner sense of worth seems to immunise against insult…just a theory…

Come again, surprisingly my welsh isn’t too good, jawl na ton mawr! What’s that mean, we’re cr*p at rugby? You been getting some good surf too up there in sheep land?
