outside the box. interesting for sure. why would he run those fins? more support? note the gloves. that cant be fun to paddle. i like it, though i could never surf it.
Really? Curren is the original. Curren could surf your door mat, or your cat…take no interest in this…he is a wizzard.
he is a wizzard.
Indeed!
Curren is the original.
no shit he’s the original and can surf anything. that’s why this IS interesting. he’s not just riding refined, perfected gear, he’s trying a bunch of weird stuff that shouldn’t make sense…and it looks super fun. like i said, i could never ride it, but i’ll eagerly watch someone like him ride it.
I’m just always soaking everything up that comes out about curren. I think he has been riding that thing for a while now. There was this one vid of him from mexico where he was riding a bodyboard standing up, followed by hom riding that skimboard.
I actually saw him ride that thing in france last automn. he paddled into the wave on a large softboard, jumped off it riding the wave with a skimboard. It was actually pretty big that day. La nord in hossegor.
Just when everyone thinks that kelly is pushing the boundaries of how small you can go here comes along curren, I’m not sure how old curren is without looking it up, but for someone with so many birthdays under his belt its extremely interesting and fantastic to see him trying this stuff out… And Ripping!
Most of last week I was riding a self-shaped 5’1’‘, and riding boards that short can be a blast. Changing back to my regular 6’ 0’’ afterwards made it feel like I was surfing a boat!
Curren is a true inspiration,
Checking back in! Spent the last month road tripping in morocco and finally came to a little fishing town with a long mellow right. From afar I saw a guy riding a glider really well only to find out it was Tom Curren who switched to that skimboard later on.
I am not really that into contest surfing and stuff, but saw the odd pro in the european automn. But seeing what Curren does on this thing was indeed from another world.
Tom Curren is one of the few (ex) “pro” surfers I pay any attention to.
He can surf anything and do it well, he’s a fairly talented musician and if you can get him talking, he’s quite a character.
Tooling around the Boardroom on old skool skates…
