Tomo and Yorky inspired belly channels into a double concave tail

Have a squiz at this one.
Let me know what you think. Play nice;)

I like it! You got some more numbers? How is the bottom behind and in front of those channels?

Here is the basic idea on the design. It may just be babble but its for me so who cares.
I started with a significant single concave through the middle, right through to the nose and a double out the tail.
I then put the quad concave into the front foot area, I’m an old man so I think I surf in more of a front foot drive for speed and then try to do a turn rather than back foot in the pocket surfing. Reduction of rocker through the middle while maintaining curve in the rail.

The tail is supposed to make the water release easier and faster, swell as create pivot points to turn off.

Allows there to be a straighter outline through the back of the board.
The funniest thing is that I have marked it as 5’5 5/8” but its 5’6 5/8” but head was all over the shop. the nose is rounded cause It snapped when the wind blew over the blank.
It was supposed to be a 5’7” 18 1/2” 2 3/8”

What kinda fins are you gonna put on it? Looks nice

5 fin set up

As the first board filler a long time I have had glasses 100% by someone else it’s an interesting experience.

Cool!
Looks good from here

…I like it. Got much tail rocker in it?
Would love to hear how it rides.

You doing the sanding, or are those pictures the glasser sent you?

Do you have a picture of the board in which it’s just standing somewhere? Kinda hard for me to make out the outline. Just if you have one

oh yeah, and let us know how it works.

Haven’t taken a straight on one yet.

About 2 I think.

fin box and placement adjusted due to a chance encounter with a real SciPhi

Its finally done and damn it looks fine and it surfs very nice…

if you dont mind me asking, who is your glasser? I am keen to get into shaping however the glassing bit is putting me off. thanks!

Look up the Instagram or Facebook. Or personal message me if you want his number.

BTW two surf in and I’m more excited about his board d meeting Han anything else I’ve surfed in a long time. And the waves have been pretty average both surfs.
Banging glass job hey…

Can you tell us a little about that color job? It appears to have been applied after hot coat before gloss? Is is paint or Posca or resin or what? It looks like it went on as a pretty quick step. Please elaborate for us if you can. I know you may not have done it yourself.

Its the filler coat done in sanding resin. with some colours. I can see how he has done it and with a bit of experimenting and imagination it can be figured out, but its not my secret to give.

Good stuff sk8… Yorky you would be proud.
**thanks for taking the time to post all the pictures… **

Can we get a close up on fin area colors?

TT

the board looks awesome!

just curious - what was the difference in fin layout when you changed it?
