Top 2 surf shops in S.D.

I am traveling through SD this weekend on my way to do some surfing in Baja. Used to live in SD 15 yrs ago. I have time to visit a couple shops in SD on my way back home.

What are the best 2 shops to see bonzers, fish, single fins, eggs, and classic logs? Greenroom? Mitch’s? Your input is appreciated.

You just answered your own question…

The Longboard Grotto in Encinitas…tops my list… Mitch’s too but at the mitch’s north you are not alowed to fondle the boards unsupervised. ;-). they do have a good selection of bonzers though.

My vote goes to Encinitas Surfboards. Owned by a shaper (John Kies) and staffed by surfers. They pack more good stuff into a retail shop than anybody. You can call for a surf report on their regular phone, and buy just about anything you need. Doug

The Encinitas Surf shop does have a lot of stuff stuffed in a small shop but every time I go in there I get this vibe from the staff like, Ok Hi kook so what do you want(with a Smile)… may be it’s just me though.

Not just you Shipman, not just you.

Mitch’s, Greenroom, or Leucadia. Cool boards, nice people @ those ones for sure.

all shop boards are within 3/4’'of perfection and staff is spelled staph in some circles ,bless their hearts they gotta work while everybody else is on their way back from mexico with disposable income dripping from their credit cards and trust funds and on top of that thecustomers and looky lou’s complain about prices and crooked stickers pity the poor guys in the shop they are trying their best ,or not , to work off the last four boards they got at the discounted price because they work in the shop as a retail clerk {where the only real perks are the beautiful women looking for implements of mass distraction] …ambrose …how many stupid questions are there…the difference between three fins and one fin?..= … two fins
