I’m NOT a newbee adk and I agree with you. Too many of these Swaylokians (in this post as in others?) preach aloha on Sunday and sin the rest of the week!
I became a member in 04. Shortly after that I began seeing posts of Roys. When I saw a post by ‘Roy’ (Tom) I would just zip past it because he wold be very aggressive and frequently verbally attack. As a result he was banned. Shortly there after he returned as Tom.
I continued to overlook his posts until just a few months ago. I was reading a post about hoop fins. There was Tom commenting on the style of hoop fin that was suggested (different than what he does) and not attacking but giving suggestions. HIs posts have been interesting//educating to read, even when there is a heated DISCUSSION of differences he is just very persistent. And… he (and the rest of the posters) interested me enough in hoop fins for me to actually think about trying to make one (maybe this summer)! He seems to have greatly matured in his postings lately.
I, for one, don’t care how fast Tom/Roys boards are I’m not racing against him. And I wouldn’t comment on his boards unless I could try one.
He can wear what ever color wetty he wants to. You would not want to see what I race triathlons in! 
I’m actually very envious of Tom! Read his postings about ALL the paulownia that he aquired!!!
And sorry for his that he can’t leave NZ (for what ever reason). There is SOOOooo much of the world out there that is just very amazing! I love traveling… would love to bike around the world one of these days with one of my balsacomps in tow!

Hi Paul - I’m enlightened by your balanced perspective. When I take a step back and look closely at what we are doing, or more critically, what I am doing, I see the importance of your words and statement in general. It’s true; they are just toys we are playing with. The differences in which we play are really unimportant in the big picture. How we play is only some of who we are, and in this medium it’s imperfect to think we know a person at all. It’s trippy; your words ring so true. Thanks for the check up.

The Swaylocks archives have nothing on building surfboards. I can find information such as epoxy primer, glassing, sanding, this weird thing called planer use, how to make fins, some stuff known as compsanding, sail boat / yatch posts, one about a dog, balsa blanks and carbon fiber hollow, dig repair. But not on building surfboards.
