Top Ten Excuses: by TomBloke

Thread Revised. See post #15 below.

Damn that is some seriuos hateration. Were you drinking haterade when you posted that.Later KARL

Not at all Karl…its not about hate, its about humor.

Contrary to what some of you might think, I dont take this stuff seriously or personally. I dont even surf

(this place needs more people like Resinhead)

Hey and not to mention the fact that TB loves all the free publicity.

So in a bizzare twist of fate, Im actually doing him a personal favor.

Hmmm, maybe its love?

Craftee, To be fair, we have to consider what happens if Tom/Roy’s boards really work well on the North Shore.

I think that’s one of the interesting things about this whole exercise: Now we all get to see what’s what. And there are enough guys out there who will give the boards and Roy a fair shake, that I can’t wait to see the results. But along with the riding, there HAS to be video.

Show me the video! And throw in some GPS information if you have to.

This is true entertainment.

LET THE R GAMES BEGIN!

Doug

Guys,

The best that can be said about Roys’ boards, is that the design, and performance, is on a PAR with the best boards of the late 20’s to late 30’s era, IN HAWAII. Perhaps even better. But it is is universally UNDERSTOOD that surfboard design, and performance, has vastly improved since that time. Especially in Hawaii, in response to the extraordinary SURF QUALITY. The major gains have been SPEED, and MANEUVERABILITY. I PREDICT: Roy will NEVER, repeat, NEVER, allow a third party evaluation of the outrageous claims he makes for his boards. Though I truely hope he does. Don’t drink his Coolade yet!

True humor is never at someone else’s expense. It is covert hostility, covert aggression.

This is a just a cruel thread. Where is the aloha here? Certainly this is not what the Sways community is all about…

Enough already guys.

This isn’t in the spirit of what we are here for… go and shape a board.

ADK, I noticed youre relatively new here. Here’s what I suggest you do.

Go into the archives and look at all of TomBloke and RoyStewart threads.

They go back about 3 years. Read all his stuff, then ask yourself your own question:

Where is the aloha?

http://www.swaylocks.com/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=174127;page=4;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25;

Anyone who wears hot pink wetsuits, helmet, rides long heavy wooden boards with hoop fins, claiming routine speeds of 35+MPH on headhigh beachies, while all his videos suggest otherwise, and argues to no end, is just begging for criticism.

Bloke has made his bed, and now he’s gotta sleep in it.

Its been three LONG years. The Fat Penguin guy lasted a small fraction of that.

ADK,

Craftee has just given you some sound, and reasonable advice. Gather as much background information as you can before rendering an opinion that may be perceived as being superficial, and illinformed. As a relative new participant here, let me say welcome aboard to you. There is a treasure trove of surfboard/surfing information to be mined here.

nah its not a cruel thread

i miss the old sways where people give technical advice to newbies

yep! quote of the year right there ambrose!

I feel bad that I missed the awful deleted post.

I wasnt awful…there just seems to be a lot of sensitive guys here with weak senses of humor.

For the sake of comical relief, I wanted people to donate posts, listing a forecasted excuse TomBloke might make after his boards fail myserably on the NS.

Humorous things like:

Its not the board’s fault! The test rider wasnt wearing an orange wetsuit and helmet.

I suggested a TOP TEN format that David Letterman uses on his show. Then I listed words to inspired the excuses; orange suit, gravity, water particles, helmet, etc etc. I threw in the word ‘scumbag’ because thats the title of one of TomBlokes own videos on YouTube! His own words, not mine. Wbtw, doesnt seem so inaccurate now based on what’s going on on the other thread.

So let the forecasted excuses begin…

“the board didnt work, because water particles behave differently in warm Hawaiian waters and I mistakingly designed the board for cold NZ water”

Wow, I really am cruel.

I googled it–I did not write this:

kook

[Usenet; originally and more formally, net.kook] Term used to describe a regular poster who continually posts messages with no apparent grounding in reality. Different from a troll, which implies a sort of sly wink on the part of a poster who knows better, kooks really believe what they write, to the extent that they believe anything.

The kook trademark is paranoia and grandiosity. Kooks will often build up elaborate imaginary support structures, fake corporations and the like, and continue to act as if those things are real even after their falsity has been documented in public.

While they may appear harmless, and are usually filtered out by the other regular participants in a newsgroup of mailing list, they can still cause problems because the necessity for these measures is not immediately apparent to newcomers; there are several instances on record, for example, of journalists writing stories with quotes from kooks who caught them unaware.

An entertaining web page chronicling the activities of many notable kooks can be found at http://www.crank.net/usenet.html.

A ‘Top ten videos of Sways rednecks breakfasting on their own words’ thread of course !

But unlike Craftee, who predecides the outcome, we wait until feedback flows in. . . some time away yet

.

Fat Penguin is in my wider local area.

And I think anyone who thinks they travel at 35mph on a wave is not being objective.

Go and ride a windsurfer at that speed and see if you can handle it.

At one time 35mph was close to a world speed sailing record.
