…I totally agree.  I was talking to Renny the other day about the Yater Spoon and his original intention.  He confirmed it was “never about the nose flexing, maybe somebody did that, I did the step decks to reduce swing weight.”   

Renny now shapes at Bob Haakenson’s (my glasser), and Bob told me he conceived the Model A stringer pattern while working for Surfboards Hawaii while up on the hill in Encinitas.

So here is the same blank in a longboard.

Lightweights??

I’ve got a stripped blank that came out of a Surfboards Hawaii AAA that flexed so much it snapped.  Also have a little know “Bud Cravens” Flexer.  In lined up point waves, it definitely flexes and it does affect the way it rides.  To get a board to do this you’ve got to go super thin.

That early rice paper must not have been very good quality.
