Has anyone tried to bring epoxy with them on a airplane, cargo obviously? This seem to be a good way for me to get some, just about the only way really. I always have people visiting so if this works then cool!

I’ve taken a small amount with me when I travel, no problem. I usually put it in my carryon.
I think if your talking gallon size it might be a bit much.

Carry-on wow they take any and all liquids from us!!
I took some epoxy to Panama, call it around 3 liters, as checked baggage. But that was a while ago (2000) , dunno about now.
Fedex and UPS are obscenely expensive. On the other hand, the US Post Office will send a package to Nicaragua for about $55 US - see http://ircalc.usps.gov/
See http://www.popoyodingrepair.com/accueil/index.html and maybe ask him where he gets his?
Sorry that that's not more help
doc...
Whoops!!!11111
I ment to say CHECK IN not carryon.
Sorry
Les
Aeromexico confiscated ours.
it's illegal to ship the stuff by air ask any retailer or wholesaler.
that's why alot of resin or glue stuff can't be sold to addresses in Hawaii.
Almost every site has a disclaimer these days.
It sucks to have to move stuff in that small a quantity via container ship.
I think if you try and smuggle it through you could be looking at a fine at the least.
check the regs
I tried to take a quart of Epoxy and hardener on the 'plane from Maui in my checked baggage. Just before the aircraft was about to take off I was informed that this had been removed from my baggage.
Take ding stik or epoxy stick
For a living I train people how to ship hazardous materials...these materials are regulated by the US and Foreign governments...you are not allowed to carry on or check any hazardous materials in your luggage with a few exceptions (lithium batteries, battery powered mobility aids, small aerosols, etc...). If your MSDS for the resin, catalyst, or any other thing you're using says that it is regulated...you can not put it in your baggage...even in small amounts...it is illegal...the transportation information on an MSDS is usually found in Section 14...if you don't have an MSDS or are not sure...do not pack it...if anyone has any questions about shipping hazardous materials you are more than welcome to ask me...my work e-mail is njr@hazshipper.com and my work # is 1-717-848-8840 ask for Neil Jr
I know a lot of people are sending stuff through the mail and FedEx and UPS illegally also...a lot of people make the mistake of thinking that only large sized containers are regulated...any amount you ship is regulated...shipping an undeclared hazardous material has a baseline fine of $15,000...just to let everyone know so you dont get fined or arrested
oh and that doesnt even go into the people who are checking your luggage...if they find any liquids in there and are suspicious at all they will take it out...hazardous or not...better to have everything shipped to you...then you won't have to pay for something you're probably not going to get just to have to order it anyway plus putting your visitors through all of that.
Well, Iguess that solves that question!!! Back on with the search for epoxy.
where are you located again Benito?
Ding stick is not a liquid … I don’t think it would be a problem.
I need more then a repair kit,but thanks for the suggestion.
I'm located North Nicaragua in a Port town called Corinto. I found a two places in managua, 2 1/2 hours south, that claim they sell epoxy, but every time I've been, or I call and travel to get some, they ''sold out", even when ''they hold it for me'' I get there and it's gone, dude I can't tell you how frustrating it gets!! The shops at San juan Del Sur gets first dibs always, anybody else really doesn't exist!!I got a friend east coast Honduras that I'm trying to contact to see if anywhere in that country supplies it. The key word is ''trying'' to get in contact with, we'll see.
Man.....im never going to complain that I have to drive for 1 hour to get some epoxy. Certainly puts thigs in perspective.
Hope you'll get some epoxy soon.
oh but for a sailboat
cruising to centro
to avoid the season
and the oil slick
from fla…
what good and reasonable
carpenter/boatright
would be without
at least two cases
of resin research
on board…
might be a good trade for
a weeks stay ashore…
…ambrose…
daydreaming
it tis day time
some where
ain’t it?
I'm seeing a new smuggling trade into South America...our way of fighting back at the cartel, 100's of planes, small ships, mules, etc, etc carrying resin research into little ports, small coves and mangrove swamps.............soon the whole region will be infested with RR. Even the youngest of the young will be using RR Kwick Kick. Kids will be in back alleys and condemed buildings glassing anything they can get there hands on....dog, cats, monkeys..Pedro's 73 Ford truck...all shiney with various degrees of proficiently executed colored cut laps....and even the occassional surfboard.....Perfect.
I feel your pain benito5,
I have been sorting out shipping some Kwick Kick to New Zealand as the only supplier in the country says they arn't going to import any. Now I cant get hold of Greg at Resin Research.
It is shipped as hazardous class 8 , so cant be taken on a plane. I have to transport by ship (cheap) then by truck (expensive ) It is only worthwhile for me if I get 24 - 36 Gallons.
Taxes, tarrifs, customs and fees are a killer too, doubles the price!
Dont give up, you will find a way
