Tree-to-sea HWS people welcome here

So I have been told the T2S forum is shutting down.  Sad, because that forum was my intro to the great world of surfboard making.  But want to let all the HWS builders know you are WELCOME here at Swaylocks!

X2

it’s been dead for years.

Hope to figure out how you cut the curve for your router sled one day Huck. Same as a rocker jig I suppose and I guess easiest way is to print it out from AKU Shaper… so many threads with lost images including the Torres method

Yeah the Torres thread was a good one. I draw my rocker by hand, make a template just like a plan shape template, smooth the curve with sanding block.

must be well experienced to draw by hand Huck!

I was trying it yesterday and boy it seemed difficult. there was a few of us at the shop trying to do it but we all couldn’t seem to get it just-so. So we tried setting up string to form some of the arc but that didn’t really work since both the pen moves and the thread stretches. In the end I thought to myself better to go to the hassle of printing out to multiple A4 sheets and stick and glue… hmm

it’s all a lot easier with a lasercutter! probably a good thing I don’t get to cheat that way with the longer items - makes me learn

If I was there with you guys I’d show you and you’d probably say oh, yeah, I could do that. But hard to describe with words.

However, an old fishing pole makes a handy guide, cuz the taper makes for a progressive curve.  Have a friend help you hold it to the curve you want.

At any rate, the rocker you choose becomes the pattern for the router sled, it’s drawing the rocker that’s at issue, not the sled.

Barry Snyder has a way cool tool for reproducing and marking rockers.  Maybe he’ll post it up, or you might find it in the archives.

Really sad to see it go!!!

Tree to sea is alive again.

it is a good website for info about hws.

It turns out that the reports of its death were premature, its still available for perusing and posting
