Just had too tell everyone that. Some pics may be coming soon now that I have a digital camera. Surf wasn’t that great so it’s a bit hard to say how it really went but it felt a little bit freer than a thruster from what I can make of it. So there you go.
I tried my first quad a couple weeks ago (also in not-so-good surf). I had the same impression about it being “freer” or “looser”, but at the same time it didn’t want to slide out, which was nice. Then again… I think any board it’s size would have felt pretty “free”… I am 6’2", 185, and the board was my buddy’s 5’8" bat tail quad, with a rather narrow, shortboardy template. The thing was pretty friggin small. It was really fun though, super loose, but still held a line really well when the wave picked up some speed and steepness.
