triple stringer noserider build thread (updated as i go)

I’ve been enjoying looking at the build threads lately, so i decided to post one of my own. I finally have some time to shape one for myself so i decided to go with a new noserider, I’ve never made one for myself before, just ridden some that i’ve made for others. For the board, i decided to copy a board that i got earlier this year and just fell in love with. It’s a 9’6"x23 3/4"x3 1/4" shaped by Mike Pedigo of flyline surfboards in Jacksonville, Fl. It’s getting a tailblock, possibly a nose block, and glassed using 7.5 oz. volan. Not sure yet what kinds of tints and resin panels im using for it yet.

pic 2: I traced a template out on a piece of cardboard. Not what i like to use, but it got the job done.image_5.jpg

for the blank, I had to dig into my personal stash, I’ve had the blank stashed above my shaping room since december. I went with a US blanks 9’8"y green density. cedar alternative triple stringer.

I then cut my outline out and cleaned it up.

i finally got the time to finish shaping thisboard this week. Here’s some pics of cutting the concave in and the bottom rail bands, also another board im currently working on.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpeg

here is a pic of the tailblock. It’s made of mahogany and maple.image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpg

I started glassing today as well. I did a tinted deck patch using 7.5 oz. volan, I mixed a bit too much yellow into it and it turned out a little greener than i had originally wanted..jpeg (1.96 MB)

wow, great project, nice pics, looking forward to more!

Ray said talk is cheap, but it gets all the attention.  Its a mystery to me how many people line up to post on a pointless thread that goes nowhere, but completely ignore the true gems of this website, like this thread.  I guess maybe people stop posting build threads, because no one here is interested in them anymore?  I still am.  Thanks Drifter2 for sharing!

Hi Drifter…Hi Huck

Awesome build…keep it going !!!

I have a hard time with usless noise when I’m doing a build thread…I get uptight and I shout out or shut down…stay true…stay cool. It’s not easy…love that tripple stringer and the deck patch !

Ray

thanks for the interest huck and ray. I finally had time this week to finish her up. Here are a couple pics from a few days ago after the hot coat. I added some resin pins and a gloss coat after. It will be finished up tomorrow. im stoked on it! glassed with an 8 oz bottom with 8 oz tail patch. has a 8/6/8 deck. I only used volan on this one.

the outine of the board front and back

after working on this board for over 2 months, its nice to finally have it finished. I spent the next half hour staring at it. I’m amazed at how far my boards have come after only a couple years shaping. My boards wouldn’t come out nearly as nice if it weren’t for the help i found on here early on. You guys have had a huge impact on my shaping.

Great assortment you got printed up. Tons of versatility. Again, that board looks great! Lookin forward to a ride report!
