I’ve made all of two sets of ply fins for two fish, so needless to say they ain’t great. Made the first set from Home Depot birch ply and they came out so-so/OK. They were double-foiled keels. Made the second set from some high quality cabinet-grade birch ply that a friend gave me and they came out much better. They are single-foiled and more twinny. Rooster, I used the template you sent me a while back. The picture makes them look way more raked than they really are.
Looking good, Jim. I think beginners, me included, foil them too thick. Glassing them on adds some thickness, too. They still work pretty good, though. I still have some of my first. I look at them and laugh. They are so thick and foiled so poorly. If I could stand them up and cut right down the middle they might work. The ones I see on Sways now are way better.
Jim, I have the lokbox Zippifish fins that are really raked and racey. Work great and bitchen to look at. Mike
