Another Goleta “success story”? What a freaking hypocritical sell-out! “They don?t use child labor or anything like that, and they pay their people pretty well by local standards. And the fin quality is as good as we made here.” True Ames fins are proudly stamped with the names of the board makers who are the company?s customers. The shelves in the office are full of fins waiting to be shipped. There is a Wayne Rich fin for thruster-type long boards , the Yater Classic and Spoon fins, a Nat Young longboard fin design and many more. The shop also makes fins for the wake-board and windsurfing industries. In surfing, positioning is one of the most important skills one can have. Chuck Ames has positioned himself as a primary supplier of quality products for an industry that is booming and here to stay. If fins are made in china, will they still Ame True?
7" centre fins(for boxes) start at around $7 with 9" or 10" around $11-$14 depending on style and layup etc.Shipping costs around $150 per cubic metre in which you can fit 700-800 fins.In Australian terms these fins come in costing just over half of what they are wholesale, direct from local manufacturers.
do he fins respond to english commands?..american english? pidgin english? val speak?..they must be good…do they adhere to international licencing regulations or can we buy china direct for 1/2 price this truely could be great Im goin to china I’ll look for them…3.00$ sounds fantastic!!!.. ambrose: I love fins … I Love the Chinese…this is a great combination cheap chinese fins wow 3.00 thats 1/10 the price holy cow phone the Vatican they are opening surf camps throughout south and central america whoa…ambrose … rubbin’ the wound
we want our products made in our own country but we want everything to be at a good price, have you seen the hype on this message board when a shaper/product manufacturer tries to charge the required amount to sell good quality stuff, all hell breaks loose and people start wondering why they charge so much. its catch 22 my friend, if its made in asia its at the price we expect to pay, if its made in our own country its going to be alot more expensive.
Why dont you look at the tag on your shirt, or the place your car was made, who made your TV? your shoes? Most of what you own is made elsewhere, why not your surfboard fin? You dont mind walking in those malaysian made Nike shoes? Why not use a chinese fin?
Or, what about that wetsuit you covet in the cold of winter?
11-14 bucks for a 10" finbox?? sounds spendy. just buy local much cheaper. like 4 dollars. hmm unless theyre a specialty finbox. i dunno
EU/US economists say the yuan is undervalued check: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3076732.stm
Actually with the aussie dollar strengthening they will become even cheaper. When the chinese contacted me with the prices quoted above the aussie dollar was buying 62 US cents today its around the 67 US cent mark so they’re cheaper already. The sample I received was as good as anything I have seen locally and surfs well. I will continue to buy locally as I get a good price from an excellent fin foiler but there are many that would take the cheaper chinese fin in a wink.
youre carrying the torch for paul gross has got to be a heavy load. after all these years you guys are still jealous because of chuck ames success? no pg`s name on any of them fins? too bad so sad.
HEY my wetsuit is american made… now to write more posts on my Toshiba laptop, and then shape some more boards with my Hitachi Planer.
where’s the rubba from?
Dearest bud- Paul G has once again been vindicated! Doesnt anyone remember when he went psycho all over the dynamic duo, Chuck Ames and Bob Duncan? Right here in Swaylocks! PG would never have put his name on those fins unless HE was included in the Ames China deal! Why shouldn
t HE get a slice of the pie??? Meanwhile back at the ranch, Sideshow Bob is still trying to type ‘you stole my fin’. duh
Bob and Chuck are good men. You two dirtbags are out of your minds. Go back to Woodland Hills and get your stories straight.
