TUNL fins

Hey guys… im new to swaylocks… and shaping… ive come across these TUNL fins for FCS or glass on http://www.worldsurftech.com/ and i was wondering if anyone has heard about them or tried them out… seems like a solid principle… let me know if you have any opinions

Hi,

yes I tried one of these mid last year, for several weeks. Likewise I liked the science and it seemed a valid design. In use however there was too much drag, with it installed my daily use shortboard it was noticably slower to paddle and it just didn’t work right. The board seemed too, well, stodgy…in every situation.

I believe (and I’m no hydrodynamic engineer or anything) the same objectives are achieved with far more success with the FSC Red-Tip fin. I use one of these on my mini-gun board in largish wind-swell days which are common here in this part of NZ. They stablilise the board and aid control in wind/cross chop situations. I earnestly suggest if you like the idea of the TunL, try a Red Tip. You’ll love it.
