TURBO TUNNEL QUADS PROBOX STYLE

I had the pleasure of spending a couple of hours with the GREEK at his home today in Huntington Beach looking at this EPS VERSA-PLANE SHORTY glassed at Waterman’s Guild. Take a close look and you will see TURBO TUNNEL REAR FINS in ProBoxes on that Shorty Board or go to PROBOX ON THE MOVE THREAD and you will see a closer view of the fin set-up. The Greek took the term VERSA-PLANE to another level with this board. I will post more pics and info after I size the pics to inline on this Thread. Mahalo,Larry

More information please…

Length , thickness ,ect…

Love that board ,care to share fin placement…Rocker???

I’m 46 years old riding a home made 6’5" disc…copy of the Walden Disc…magic… Mine is Short and Fat…2 plus one…

This is the board that can get all the old guys off of their logs…very few will listen…very few even care…I love mine…great paddling, got the glide ,smack the lip…oh wait…I’m not on a short board…how can you smack the lip at age 46…

back to my log…yeah right !!!

Stingray, I know you like some extreme stuff. I think TURBO TUNNEL QUADS for ProBox is pretty cool and judging by reports from test pilots, this combo works insane. Mahalo

Greetings Stingray

The board is 8’ X 24 wide X 20" nose X 16.5" hips. The name SHORTY depicts the intent of the design. It is a short long board rather than a long short board. So far it has got great review from those that have one. The fin set up is brand new. as far as the placement you would be better off talking with Larry since he is the one who placed the boxes. Riding it with the twin turbos has proven to be quite nice so far. We have a little more testing to go but so far itis very responsive and very fast. Glad you like the design, oh yes it is about 2 7/8" thick and the rocker is a real flowing rocker with a low entry with a low rail design.

Greek

Cool, it looks like the tail set up of the old Boeing 727! I think the set up should be called the “twin turbo”

How do we get the Turbo Probox fins?

Hi Resinhead

They do look kind of kool however the ones you are seeing are handmade prototypes. We could make you some but although they work insane they are a little on the expensive side due to the fact they are hand made. We hope to have them in production by the end of the year.

Thanks

Greek

Greek, may I take advantage of your posting here to thank you for having changed my life (for the better) when I was only 15 or so and I bought (third hand) this Maui Model:

Shortly thereafter I shaped my first board and have never stopped ever since. Pintails have been in my mind all this time, and you’re the one responsible for that.

Again, so many thanks! Sorry to hijack this thread, Larry…

right on, man! i make a short-longboard, too…but i cut mine all the way down to 6’6"!!!.. [ x 20-1/8" x 22-3/4" x 16" ]. i call mine “the shlongboard”.

the board just underwent a major re-design, and the new tweaks are still on the drawing board…but everyone who rode the original was sooo stoked on it, so any ride improvement is waayyyyy groovy.

the original was strictly singlefin, but the new one will be fitted with a ProBox “Versa-Plane” setup.

your fins look great, and i’d love to try out a set in the new shlongboard once she’s done!

balsa…

awesome pic. that post just gave me a great vibe. thanks, man.

and my apologies as well for hi-jacking this thread.

back to you pb-larry and greek…

waiting… not so patiently…

when? when?

oh and btw… are there any future plans for a 20degree insert for Bonzer side fins???

maybe a canted fin blank that can be added to the canted insert?

Hi Balsa

Nice looking board. Glad I was able to influence you from so long ago. If I learn how to insert a photo I will post a picture of the Collectors Edition Maui Model. It looks just the same. WOW! Again nice looking board thanks for taking the time to send it.

patience young grasshopper…the man makes fins, not websites.

though i must confess i’m just as eager!

i believe that’s precisely how the probox bonzer fins are being made.

Austin got a set a short while back.

they look GOOOOOOD!

Hi Chris, At the moment there is no plans for a 20 degree insert for Bonzer fins. In talking with Malcolm 18 degree is the bonzer cant. You can get this now with the bonzer fins I have pre canted at 10 degree with a 8 degree insert equals 18 degrees. Or if you want, you can add glass to the 10 degree fin base to create your own 12 degree fin which will give you 20 degrees then with the 8 degree insert. The 20 degree cant is not a production request at this time. Thanks Chris. Mahalo,Larry

Greek, Thanks for takimg the time to post and help explain the TURBO TUNNEL QUADS. Looking forward to the other unique set-up using the TURBO TUNNEL FINS in ProBox which are coming up. Excited to hear and see the new postions and results from the test polits riding the boards with the ProBox TURBO TUNNEL fins. Mahalo,Larry

Balsa, You are always welcome to post on a ProBox thread, I am glade to share the special moment with Greek and some history from others. Mahalo,Larry

Soulstice, Always love your WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKKEEEEEEEEE Energy. Mahalo “MY Friend”, Larry

Aloha Soulstice:

You are right Larry makes the fins, I’m the poor slob that has to build the website!

Just a quick update on the website front, things are getting very close now and I think everyone will be stoked when they see the finished product. I still have to take about 20 or more fin photos to put on the site and then I will be able to make it live.

It has been a long slog but it takes time to build something that looks good especially when you have very little time to do it as you are busy shaping boards and selling fins!

Just a little more patience, thanks!

Hi John, I think the Greeks web site people should check out this limited edition of Water Transfer Decals from the 60’s from Greek’s personal Archives. I bought the # 10 out of 50 Plaques made.

Here’s a close up of the other Water Transfer Decals from the 60’s off the same Plaque on Greek’s web site. Mahalo
