I’d build the floor out to pressure treated joists and at least 5/8 ply. Wind may be a problem and fastening lights, shelves, storage, etc could be a challenge, but it can be worked out. Have you given any thought to a heat source?
It would be in a fairly sheltered location.I’m going to set metal T posts in at the corners and tie the building frame to it
I was thinking a ground cover over sand would be cheaper(free) and softer to walk on.There is good drainage.
I’m considering running one 4 ft layer of plywood along the base of both sides.that could be painted and the side light/shelves mounted on those low pony walls.
I bought it today, so I’m committed!
with the lights I bought today I’m up to $300.00 invested so far.
Heater-wise, I’m thinking of an electric space heater or 2.
the roof is just a large tarp, I think I’ve replaced it three times. the floor is about 3" of road base (rock/dirt) covered with sections of carpet. I use an electric oil filled heater for winter.
Go for it man. I used to have a sweet little garage setup back in NC. I had to move (military) and now I am in Okinawa Japan. No worries, brought my basic shaping tool kit with me. Cool thing is I am still shaping in my back yard… In a TENT and it works just fine. Except for typhoons! Then I break ALL of it down and put it into my small storage shed. Easy day. Here are some shots of how It is setup. It is a 10x12 ft gazebo with zip up net enclosure (300$ at the PX). Side light stands, shaping rack and glassing stand all collapsible. Take care and enjoy the process.
