Wow, thats an expensive board, Ive seen better here on sways, maybe I should be charging more.
Any one know who christopher Makos is?
Just noticed theres a button to put an offer in do you think they will take £70.?
In this case I think the value is in the art itself and not the board. The board is just a piece of sculpture that the art is mounted on.I saw a picture of an art show somewhere in California where they had around 100 boards hanging from the ceiling. They were all identical. The boards had the dual wedge stringer and no visible logos.Looked like Patagonia to me.If I can find it I will post it for you guys.I am currently in to art furniture.Going to build some stuff with abstract tinted layups, resin pins, and full gloss polish.I will be using existing furniture that I have modified. Why am I bringing this up?Well…it may be good way for you small board shops to make some spare cash.Plus its fun as hell. apparently he’s a fairly reputable photographer and artist…
Roger,
Awesome idea.! Definitly post show pistures of the furniture art work!

I don’t have any pictures but here is one thing.I took a nicely designed used dining table and painted the top with white flat latex paint and "sponged"it to make it look kind of like foam.I let it dry real good and came back and did an abstract color glass job using 6 ounce glass.I hotcated and sanded it and then shot some resin pins on it.I glossed and polished the top and it looked great. So there is some food for thought.Actually I double glossed it to give a deep polish.Weight is not a factor here obviously.
Hi Roger…
At the risk of being completely politically incorrect, I’m calling it as I see it on this one…
Overpriced gay New York artsy fartsy crap appreciated mainly by rich gay artsy fartsy types.
(Apologies in advance to anyone offended by my personal opinion.)

So sexy
Nah…you hit it right on the head. Its basically a bunch of smoke and mirrors. You can sell a turd for a lot of money if you have the right shop.I just look at the furniture and forget about the characters selling it.
Roger,
Wow opened up some big doors in my mind. I have a new home that im looking to deck out. Ive already experimented with sqaure foam " canvas’s and done some abstract swirls/pinlines to hang on the wall. Swirled coffee/dining room tables would ad some interesting color to my mostly cedar wood walls.

john i know what your saying
but i think it can be done right
ive got a couple in planning stage with a very good artist
but 22k is a freaking joke
I went to the Christopher Makos website and after searching around I found out he actually did 7 boards. This guy is a big time Photographer.I wonder who actually built these boards?I would like to hear about that experience.I mean whats it like to glass a board inlaying photos worth thousands of dollars? The boards were built by someone named Cordell? RB
Uh Roger?
For the record, my comment was in regards to what’s his face’s 22 thousand dollar board with pics of naked/semi-naked guys posing… not your furniture.
I saw someone who was covering antique lace in fiberglass and epoxy and then bending it into furniture–chairs and tables and recliners. It was really cool. The lace looked like it was suspended in air. Not easy to do.

what an absolute joke! i hope the shaper got 90% of the profits cos he’s the only artist here. cracks me up how these so called ‘artists’ can put whatever price they conjure up in there cocain riddled minds at the time and think its justified.
photos worth thousands of dollars? im tipping there only worth what k-mart charged him to print them…
blaaahhhhhh…
This might be your guy… pro surfer/shaper Cordell Miller from Newport Beach, CA

Seems he’s involved in other art-related endeavors…
If you’re going to spend 20k on a board, at least get one built by real artists.
On ebay right now, there’s a 60s Dick Brewer gun that was built at the Surfboards Hawaii factory. Shaped by Brewer, glassed by Wayne Miyata. It was Miyata’s personal board.
The seller is in OZ. Damned if I know how it wound up there.
Cordell Miller Shaped that board. He not Dick Brewer but he has a lifestyle that over the top. 36 years old and sells a lot of boards.
He is friends with a lot of artist.
