i wanna shape my blank into a oval with a slighty pulled in tail with a twin fin set up and a fish rocker. how would this ride? anyoen built somethign like this
Be fine, just make sure you got enough fin.
Tail shape doesn’t make the board, it’s the whole setup + the rider.
FYI, I ride a Bic7’9"er with two 6x5.75 fins, much quicker than a single and more snap.

I’m about to do the same exact thing. I’m using a 6’2"C blank. I’m still messing with the dimensions but it’s looking like 6’0" x 23" [3" or 4" ahead of center] x as thick and boxy as possible. The tail is going to be a fat round tail, very slightly pulled in and very hard. Actually, I’m thinking about allowing the planshape to flow directly into the tail in an organic way without going out of my way to pull it in. I’m planning on using a twin keel shape similar to what is in the archives [9" base x 5.5" tall].
I’ll let you know how it rides in a month or so.
6’ x23" !!!

kneeboard… aka “the slab”…
If you can, check out the Anderson Surfboards ‘Pescado’. It’s a blend between a:
liddle egg hull
swallow tail
thruster set up
I purchased one 6’6" x 22.5 x 2 5/8. Interesting results. Full rail bank bottom turns, longboard glide, looseness of a fish, forgiveness of a thruster. I saw it recently two issues ago in Longboard magazine. Haven’t met too many people that ride them.
Interesting concept, good for predictable point or open face waves. I always wondered what it would be like if it had a twin-fin set-up.
Good luck.
6’ x23" !!!
I have a Friar Tuck kneeboard that is 5’6" x 23" that is absolutely great. I’ve surfed it as a kneeboard and, on occasion, as a stand-up board. It’s a little squirrelly as a stand-up board because the fins [quad] are set pretty far forward; so I’m trying to pull the shape out to ~6’, move the fins relatively back and make it a twin. We’ll see what happens.
