Uzzi have you seen the Greg Griffin twin fins? The fins are a lot further back by the looks of the pictures.

twin in a gun is not a great idea. if you want to surf big waves keep your equipment up to date, simple and functional
hi silly, 6’7 isn’t really for huge surf. i have a 6’8 but somehow like webber’s thinking and just want to try something different. wanted to know if somebody has done something like this and how it worked.
thanks anyway
uzzi
stay home it’s really dangerous out there
Bill Thrailkill twin vector maybe?
kayu, is this what you mean?

mark, i know the griffins only from fotos so i don’t know how he sets them. he also seems to have the fins pretty much dialed in with his rocker and bottom shape.

I haven’t seen or ridden his twin fin. I have the modfish and quad/5fin. Some of the Surfermag posters have the twin I think. . I really don’t think it is stupid to expect a twin fin to work in waves that suit a 6’ 8" normal semi/mini gun. Negative and unadventurous to suggest sticking to a stock generic semigun . What supposed to happen to make a Twin unrideable? Rode quite a few twin fins of the shortboard type and the short flat fish type and really the main problem was scrubbing off some speed to enable manouevers to take place. Surely there was a period when twin fin riders tackled big waves with great success and probably rockers/foil and bottom shapes have improved since then. Like all boards eg single twin or thrust etc there are good and bad ones. I think you could contact Greg Griffin and maybe he will give some advice especially as he now sell his fins. . I hope you do it.

[/quote] Yeah Uzzi , I'm sure Bill can fill you in on the virtues of this system.
Uh, I think Dave Rastovich and Akila Aipa would beg to differ with you.
Akila's been riding only twins in all conditions for a long time. Here's his website with a pic of Dave's North Shore winter quiver a couple season's back: http://aipahawaii.com/akila/index.html
Akila's shaping twin Sunset guns and according to him and Dave, they "haven't found the upper limit yet".
I've ridden my 6'-0" HP twin in 10'-DOH with no problems. Not skatey or loose, and faster than your average board with more fins on it.
Here’s a shot of a GG twin, hope this helps you out. 6’4" x 20.75 x 2 7/8. I’ve ridden it up to 10’ and cranked bottom turns without worry of spinning out. Works best in Trestles type waves.

Did this board ever happen?
Cheers

oh yeahhh it did with some changes and works fine. i think the aipa fins play a big role with the reduced area compared to others. the finish looks so lala as it was for me and i used cheap epoxy and didn’t worry to much…it took meanwhile some heavy beatings and those double stringer are very strong.

Maaaaate ! Do go on … we wanna know **all **about it !!!
That looks fun uzzi!!
hi nuclear, i´m not exactly sure anymore but its 6’7 x 20 x 2 5/8 or 2 3/4 with plenty of foam. low entry (4 1/2 or 5) for a step up and 2" tail rocker, flat bottom, 13 and something tail. fin boxes ± 8 1/2 , fins moved back about 1/2 with 1/8 tow, 1 1/4 from rail. me 73kg ± 160lbs.
freaking fast confirmed by audience. turns nice and HOLDS!! if you step far back you get it fairly straight up…not HP but a very good fun shape.
