twin length

hey all, my first post here

1st time shaper working on a swallow twin

? x 22 x 2 7/8 (nose is 17 1/2)

i’ve marked out and cut to 6’3" and now wondering

if i can go down to 6’? - this would give me a tail of

10" rather than the 7" i’ve got at the moment and

allow for a more ‘mellow’ buttcrack.

i ride a 6’10" thruster reasonably well and a 7’6"

mini mal even better - i weigh 11 stone - will a six

footer be too short (it does seem damn wide though!)

man, i wish i’d found you guys earlier

any thoughts?

" i ride a 6’10" thruster reasonably well and a 7’6"

… how tall are you ?

Don’t think height plays a part, unless you are 6’6" tall.

How heavy is 11 stone?

At 200lbs., you can easily go down to 5’10" x 22 as long as you keep thickness to close to 3". That would float like a normal shortboard around 6’9" long.

Example, Quicksilver’s rep here, at 185 lbs, rides a 5’6" x 22 fish as his small wave board. His next board up is a CI Flyer 6’4"er. His fish floats about the same as my 7’9" Bic, and paddles close, but it catches waves later, of course.

i’m 154lbs / roughly 70kgs at 6’ tall

surfing north cornwall uk (fistral etc)

so mostly upto shoulderhigh but i’ve a

choice of boards for different conditions

i was just worried that i’d pulled in the tail

too much, if i can lose the 3" then i’d feel

more comfortable with a 10" tail

big learning curve going on here!

You’ll be fine even under 5’6", at 22" wide.

Remember, the board I rode was compared to my Bic7’9"er, a full on fat boy Mal, and it paddled about the same, but caught waves later, of course. Float not much diff, and the fish’s thickness was about 2.75" with a flat deck and boxy rails.

And I was 54 years old at the time, hadn’t surfed in over 9 months.

gracias for the wisdom dudes

methinks this is the new favourite site

cheers - J
