Almost gave up on this one. I now hate sanding down the spackle. It made me gouge the rail and I had to reshape them a little.

Alot of cuzzing and sweat. Dont glob it on, I didnt but it sure was enough to give me grief.

Its a 5’7 pretty straight deck, little rocker, little belly to single and double out between fins. Fins sit 10" up from tail.

Color is dye on deck and on fins (ply). It got experimental so excuse the mess. But next time, next time…

Sanded and ready for a gloss. Sanding is getting better, after using cheap crap pads for awhile I finally ordered 3 from flexpad and

it sure makes a difference. If you dont own some, get on it. Also bought some really nice paper in bulk. 100, 240 and 400

Thanks for looking and fire away.

Nicholas

Spackle is thinned with distilled water or acrylic floor sealer.  Thinner than mayonnaise and squeegeed on with a plastic spreader.  Fill the voids andpullthe excess off…  You should be able to “screen” the blank with a worn out piece of 220 weight and a foam pad. If you can’t;  You have applied it incorrectly.  If done correctly;  You can’t tell it from a poly blank.  Lowel

Oldskull-Nice, I like the colors on the top of that board. If you have a closer-in shot I’d like to see it.

That’s gona fly !

skipped the water this time because I thought the spackle was thin enough as it was.

didnt have this problem before (when adding dist.water) , so Im thinking that by thinning it you make it easier to sand also.

 i was sloppy. never again.

ill try to post up a closer shot later for you

crossing my fingers

I really like that tail, everything from the back of the fins to the tail looks fun.

cheers, lets hope it works

id like to add that this one has got a hard density center(stringer) foam added.

was walking the dogs and found them (big sheets, 2" thick) outside a building site, throw aways. so i

brought them home with the idea of using it as a stringer (center).

anyways, the stuff is horrible to shape. it can only be sanded or surformed in one direction.

? it tears off in bigger pieces (strings) otherwise. not the best when youre doing the nose and tail.

anybody ever experience this? its got an orange hue to it. i thought i scored. hahaha

nothing ever comes easy doing this, and i love it.

thanks

Not seeing the latest pics, technical difficulties?

best one i had of the deck color

hey jrandy

Thanks OS!  I like that dyed/watercolor look.
