All right I lost the info I got before about this subject. I am going to be shaping a 7’1", 14.25" swallow tail, 20.5" Wide (at the mid point), 12" Nose twinzer in the near future. I have somewhat of a clue about wear to place the big fins, 9.5" up from the tail, 1.125 off the rail and the toe in should be about .1875 to .250 inches. I am a little confused on the twinzer fins. I have heard that you place the middle of the twinzer fins equal to the leading edge of the big fins and that point (center of twinzer fin is exactly in between the rail and the leading edge of the big fins. Both sets of the fins should also be pointed toward the same spot. Does this sound correct? Also Herb, could you explain if your super charger would work in a twinzer (four fin) twinzer style set up? If so where could I pick up a set of your super charger fins, and what would the set up be like for such a board? Thanks, Chris

If so where could I pick up a set of your > super charger fins, and what would the set up be like for such a board?>>> Thanks, Chris …Chris,I have built twinzers in the past,my brother has a rather interesting one.Yes the supercharger can be used in a 4 fin set-up.I’ve visited a local dingshop a few days ago and here was this older Rusty twin rocketfish like board being turned into a supercharged twin(I wonder where they got that idea, hum?)and the fins ,for the most part were correct!Try this for a second, instead of thinking about 4 fins…think about 2 fins + 2 leading drafting teeth(or canards),it changes the ball game.I’ve never been so STOKED in my surfing since I rode my first twin fin fish in 72,and it’s all due to the Supercharger…I should have some shots of my brother’s boards very soon, including 2 rare Dyno fish, and a twinny I built in the 70s.Stay tune for more…
p.s. For those dimensions I would go with a Supercharged/thruster rather than a Supercharged/twin ,Twinzer??? They are valid hard riding boards, and if that’s what you what then do it!Check swaylock’s search for info. You can contact me thru the board page also.
Chris, Your measurements are fairly accurate. Subtle variations in the design are ok. You may want to move the fins up just a tad. Fins that far back on a 7-1 could be a little stiff. Use the Excel fin system and you can move the fins up and back a little to tune things in. Twinzers are good! aloha
Tom, Where would you put the fins at? I had orginally thought at putting them in the 10" up neighborhood.>>> Chris,>>> Your measurements are fairly accurate. Subtle variations in the design are > ok. Tom,>>> Where would you put the fins at? I had orginally thought at putting them > in the 10" up neighborhood. Chris, Actually, 10 inches is pretty darn close after I did the calcs: a 6-4 would be 9.5 inches, add 1\4 inch for every 3 inches of length makes it 10.25 inches for a 7-1. The rocker and foil of your board will also have an impact on fin placement. Good luck. aloha!
