twisted flex fin

I’ve been riding a Liddle style flex fin for a while. I noticed that the tip is twisted. It was straight when new. Any ideas on how to untwist the fin?

I could be wrong but I think Greg recommends heating them up with a blow dryer or heat gun and bending it back…If it rides well, leave it alone! You might be on to something…

Ditto: Heat gun …slowly… http://www.hollowsurfboards.com/new.htm

I put my Rusty flex fin in the oven on low for about ten minutes. Flattened it when it came out. Rode it the same day. Still works.

…stick it in your car on a hot day.Herb

Is there alot of flex in the fin? If so don’t worry about it, when you are surfing the water flow will cause the fin to straighten out. -Carl

If in doubt about flames or the correct temp from a hot air gun in re-setting a crooked fin, Ive dropped them into boiling water for 20 to 30 minutes. After pouring off the water, then remove, and while still hot, add weight so the foil/taper is straight. If really bent, position the fin base in a workbench vice (again while hot) and carefully twist and brace with a clamp. Let the fin cool down over night. Sometimes its almost faster to cut and foil a new fin than trying to straighten a twisted one.

have you been storing the board with the fin resting on the floor? the weight of board plus heat over time will cause the tip to bend or twist-avoid this at all costs.(even just one hot day will do it)

Heat gun, oven mits, cold water.
