I absolutely love that he won’t play along with the invitation to self-hype. Go Roger.
Roger Hinds is a class act. A humble craftman dedicated to his work. Get him off camera and he will tell you a lot about boards and board shapers going back almost 50 years.
Absolutely. I concur. He gave alot of people their start. Especially inter OC.
Roger is an exceptional shaper, seen him do a flawless 3 stringer LB and immediately follow with a perfect shortboard. He is also in my opinion one of the best glassers I’ve seen. You’ll need a microscope to pick any defects in his work. He was kind enough to share with me a lot of his design and construction knowledge, some of which I have passed along in my posts here. Because of all the Skil work I do for master shapers, awhile back I had gotten really lazy and would just get my shapes from them. When I asked Roger for one of his, he gave me an old Clark red and told me to do it myself. Well I did shape that blank, and I will always remember how he so constructively let me know I was becoming a slacker and to get back on track.
