I just finished shaping my first board, and I want to airbrush it. I was wondering where to I airbrush? (such as: hot coat, on foam, under gloss coat)
Foam…you gotta sand it pretty evenly with about 120 grit, the blank I mean, as airbrush shows off imperfections, gouges, planer marks, and rough sanding.
Airbrushing the foam is the safest, because the subsequent layers of resin protect the paint. However it is possible to paint on the hotcoat, then gloss over. The problem is that you have to be careful sanding and polishing the gloss so you don’t sand through and remove paint. I hate it when that happens. It is possible though. And the paint on the hotcoat is clear with intense color, and you can get razor sharp lines. Doug
Thanks you guys, that will help a bunch!
