Using Gloss for Hotcoat and Fin glassing

My supplier has sent me gloss resin instead of lam resin. I need to glass on a fin and do a hotcoat. Will it be ok to use it as is, or should I leave it out overnight to let the styrene evaporate a bit ?

Too thin for hot, you can use 3 layers, sanding lightly for adhesion between each.

For glassing on a fin, no chance, too brittle, too thin, not good for lamination with cloth.

I don’t know about other brands, but if what you have is Reichhold, I wouldn’t use it.

It’s harder than laminating resin and therefore harder to sand and it’s less forgiving

so if you use it for hotcoat and gloss coat, at that thichness you could develop flex

cracks. I tried it a while back on a long board because I ran out of lam. and the

results were very unsatisfactory.

Save it for glossing, it’s more expensive anyway so you got a good deal.
