UV cure

I bought resin and catalyst when I was down south at FoamEZ, but now it seems like UV curing resin is the way to go for a first timer. Can I just buy an additive that I put in the resin I have, or do I have to buy a new galon of UV resin? I’m in San Luis Obispo, if anybody knows where to buy UV resin here that would be much appreciated.

Also is the UV cure stuff for just the lam. coat or for sanding too?

Thanks,

Chris

Yeah you can just buy a 1 gallon pack of UV catalyst and add to the container of resin. Most online shops have it (both fiberglasssupply.com and foamez.com). You can use the UV curing resin for the lam as well as sanding. Just don;t forget to add wax to the sanding batch.

Thanks Ben,

The Resin I bought at FoamEZ was labeled sanding and laminating. Does that mean that the wax is already added to the sanding one?

No, it will not have the wax included. To turn it into sanding resin all you have to do is add the suggested amount of wax to a separate batch (search the forums for suggested amount). Don’t add the wax until all of the laminating is finished.

the UV catalyst is a powder additive. Just make sure you measure correctly. The place you buy ti from will give you the amount!

Definitely the way to go for the beginner. Stuff is near idiot proof.
