Valla Surfboards Promo

i threw this up on the non-thruster video thread but thought some people might miss it there.

here it is:

http://www.vimeo.com/1476711

worth a look to see some traditional & high performance fish in action, as well as two ancient hawai’ian boards, the alaia & koko’o, in action.

enjoy.

Hi Oldy – If you’re looking for feed back, I’d say that the sound track kept me interested. And the editing fit the audio track very well. Couple that with a nice homegrown surfers and boards to match. Nice style on your part!

Inquisitive minds wonder how many hours of filming get left in the editing room?

Again, nicely done.

I enjoyed the surfing of the goofyfoot riding the yellow fish(Verve?) the most. Smooth, hard carves. The waves were a bit more lined up than the beginning of the film which may have facilitated his surfing. The others were all excellent surfers, but a bit too herky jerky for me personally. Really nice boards and I enjoyed the sax music and the surfing the last half. Your a talented guy, Oldy. Thanks for sharing. Mike

Can you come to Florida and do a promo video for us?

Good stuff!!!

How about the elder Joske on the fun-fish? The epitome of flow.

thanks for your feedback ep. in answer to your question, lots of tape is left on the floor, so to speak, as i try to make the surfers & their surfing look as good as it can.

having said that, we knocked this piece out in two days. the surfers are so good, & their equipment so tuned, there actually wasn’t much i needed to cut away. i had a bunch of worthy clips left over. which is how i like to work.

but best of all, the joske family are beautiful people, who love surfing with all their hearts. i am very honored to call them friends.

thanks mike. you are a talented guy yourself. i’ll always remember the help you gave me with fin templates. & i hope you’ll always remember the offer i gave you to come slide some waves in my hometown.

where do i sign up? i have a lovely wife & two lovely children in tow…

yes sir. mr paul joske has a lot of smooth going on style-wise. & he is a master shaper. better still, he is a beautiful patriarch of a beautiful family.

A mate of mine dragged out a 6’10 valla single from aout 76. still in prime condition not a scratch. was made to surf reunion island. If you talk to paul tell him Buzzard says hello.

We’ll start saving up money to get you here as soon as we get our website fixed up, and get that fiber-array Rutan-type

tech going (the robotics are expensive), and hire some composite technicians away from those aerospace firms, and…

You get the idea… It’s just a dream but I still like your work!!

Hey Oldy - Wow, impressive work for two days. It says a lot about your vision. Good waves and surfers, and I like the different styles that you show. Around here, there are few good twinfin surfers.

Good luck in the future, we’re behind your trip!

I did enjoy the surfing of the older Joske, too. Of course, he’s the rider I can identify with best. Both of us are gray haired and middle aged. Soul Seventies Baby!

Nathan, I was hugely honored to play such a very small roll in that project after you let us know what was really going down. The invitation extends to you and your family this direction, too. Mike

thanks ep.

& thank you too mike.

Double ditto, Oldy. the fish thing was really really good. Watched it several times.

really beautiful, entertaining and super smooth as always Oldy.

The Joskes are a class act.

Paul is one of natures true gentlemen.

Watching that clip got me thinking : it’s such a powerful tool , I wonder why more shapers aren’t showcasing their work in this way?

You might have started something here.

When’s Seaworthy ready for it’s maiden voyage?

Steve

thanks greg. thanks lennox. seaworthy’ll set sail within a month or so, finally. i’m looking forward to some time off.
