Versa - Plane Diamond in da werks *PICS*

This is a board that has been stuck in my mind for a while now, glad it’s coming to life

a bit. Ever since seeing THE ‘Bali Board’ from Morning of the Earth, I have been intending

on scaling the dims up a bit for my stature, as the guys in MOTE were young and slight at

the time.

So here she is, so far the only dim I’m solid on is 6’6". When I’m done with the rough out I’ll

be sure to post final dims with more pics.

Let me know what you all think.

Going to get started on some rail bands today, and push the rough out some more. And as I got to looking at the shape I’ve achieved, I realized that it looks a lot

like the Bing Synchronizer!

I also have a set of quad Pro Boxes that could be put to good use. So I think my plans may have changed some.

QUESTIONS!

1.) Does anyone have some input on fin box placement for something like this?

2.)Also, in this picture you can see the butterfly patch at the tail end where the boxes are at. At what point in the glassing schedule

would you work this in?

As you can see, the butterfly patch stands out darker, just like the rails do. That means tinted resin and two layers of cloth. So it’s safe to say that patch was laminated together with bottom layer.

Thanks, that makes perfect sense.

Any thoughts on how to place those probox’s ?

Heya,

Just a side note- and I learned from my mistake.

Quad fin set up:

Make sure you keep your fins close together like a round an inch plus of minus. I made the mistake of having them 2 and a half inches apart.

You need to make them work together.

Or just PM ProBox Larry. He knows his Product

Onward!

Gerry!

This is going to be my first shot at doing a quad set up. I have the pro boxes and all that, but what I really need is for someone to explain to me

how to mark out the fin placement.

Would greatly appreciate it!

Tyson

Did you check Mc Kee’s site? It’s full of specs and charts for different types of tails, lengths, etc…

http://www.mckeesurf.com/brucemckee/home.htm

I used this when I made my first quad and the customer has been very happy with it, so…:

After a few phone calls to ProBoxLarry, I got the fin cluster pretty much dialed in. I figured I’d attempt to transfer my notes

to this HIGHLY detailed blueprint

Versa - Plane Fin Cluster Placement

Got the bottom of the board all flat, and want to start the bottom contours soon. Would greatly appreciate any feedback to help

me accomplish bonzer bottom contours. Even links to your favorite threads. Thanks!

sweet looking board originalsin…

i’m interested in how this fin placement goes for you as it seems identical to the placement

that Larry described to me for this board… Larry seems really stoked on this quad placement…

i have yet to finish my board.

Look forward to seeing your finished board Chris. Mahalo,Larry

Chris,

Did you do any bonzer type contours with the hull? I’m trying to figure out the best way to tackle this part of the board. Looks like the concaves go pretty deep and 2/3rds the way up the board.

Thanks.

no. just some real minimal v…

i figured i should keep it simple and let the fin options

change the ride characteristics… plus, i don’t trust my “scraping”

abilities to put in any extreme bottom contours.

BTW, i’m pretty sure Bing posts on here…

maybe shoot him a PM and ask about those concaves?

After a quick template adjustment, did the rail bands, blended and snapped a few shots.

Will be tackling the concaves any day now. Yikes.
