Vikings TV show on Netflix. Who built the surfboards?

So I’m watching the TV show The Vikings Valhalla on Netflix and they’re trying to sneak in to attack London thfough the marshes.

They’re in the forest cutting down trees and splitting the logs. My wife goes, “What are they doing?” And I go, “Building surfboards.”

Sure enough Leif Eriksen is leading them throught the marsh paddling their surf boards.

So what i want to know is who built the props for them. Someone here on Swaylocks will know.

They look like wood but are too light and have too much flotation to be wood.

Someone on Facebook made a big deal out of that scene, so I had to watch the series. I had never heard of it before. I enjoy Viking shows and movies as I am a descendant of a known Viking according to a DNA test. 

I had the same thought as you, it seems. I suspect they were foam made to look like wood. The actors seemed to paddle pretty smoothly. We all have seen worse technique.
