Vintage Board Questions... Sebastian Surfboards

I just got an early 70’s single fin Swallowtail. Purple opaque glass job with logo “Sebastian Surfboards”. Does anyone know them? Florida had a lot of builders back then.

Bill, I think by then that I had my fill with  doing much for Mike, if I did any then, it was very few.

I hope your respite from the daily grind was a good one while on the sandy shores of Waikiki and I assume you are getting your daily phone call from W. Gator, I get mine, but all are the same, still in '74

i think that may have been jeff crawford but not sure.  hey are you the cleanlines clothing guy

Cleanlines, they were a label from Mike Mann, “longboard house”, when he was running Shagg’s shop in Indialantic.

Is there no signature on the stringer, I built them on Fay Drive in Indialantic and my factory on Manatee Lane after that.

Howzit Jim… I can’t make out any signatures. The shape is very well executed so i am assuming it is one of your boards. Super thin swallow tail and a perfect beak nose.

I do have a “Cleanlines” custom clothing line. The products are geared primarily for the advanced surfboard builder. My two best sellers are… the trashbag polishing apron (complete with masking tape belt) and the (now illegal) respirator mask with a hole in it for cigarette smoking while glassing.

Jim,

Wasn’t that when Mike had his shop down in Floridana Beach? Sebastian Surf Shop?

Sometime in the mid to late Seventies maybe?

Thanks!

Jimmy,

Had a great trip. Surf every day. Even had a few uncrowded (ten or so) sessions at Threes. Very mellow and fun. North Shore at 17’ was a little out of my 63 year old comfort zone.

Didn’t get to see everyone that I wanted to. Next year I’ll have to go for a month instead of three weeks.

Yes. Get my call from W. Gator every day also. Says he’s getting out soon. Been saying that for quite a while now. He wants to know how I like the cards. He says you love them. I tell him I love them too.
