Vintage Con Surfboard - no Model Name, No Serial # - Any help Identifying it?

\Hi Everyone - reaching out for a little assistance here. A friend of a friend gave me this vintage CON, my best guess is that it’s mid 60’s origin - but it has no serial number and no model name - and beyond the CON label, actually nothing much to distinguish it except a nice tailblock and the fin design to help date it to a particular era. It’s in reasonable shape, certainly not pristine, but it’s watertight. It’s also heavy as heck, but i didn’t weigh it. Anyone have any ideas about this board’s history/origin? (Apologies up front if info on this model CON has already been posted - I searched the forums as best I could and came up empty.)

What you have there os a CON surfboard.  It came from the CON surfboard company in the early 60s.

The competition band dates it.

I agree with Bill T as to time frame. Comp bands were the ‘cool’ thing around that time, My first board was a Hansen with a chevron shaped comp band, 1963. It was second hand.

Pretty unusual tailblock you have, there. Con was one of the first to do high density foam tailblocks, but a three-piece with redwood strips is quite unique.

Con’s address was 824 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica.

I bet John Mazza would like that one…

Bill, Sammy - thanks so much for the info!

unclegrumpy: You’re right with the ironing board comment - the board could easily serve double duty lol
