Okay, seached archives, read… saw very little as far as pics go.
When looking at the desciption for Volan glass, you get “The cloth used on most “Old School” longboards and fishes. This Volan cloth has a very large weave with a slightly greenish tint that looks awesome on a gloss/polish clear, tinted, or pigmented board. Volan will absorb more resin than 6oz cloth resulting in a heavier and stronger surfboard”
Please, ANYONE post some pics of boards glassed with this that gives that tint.
you get the better green effect with thicker glass…and light angles play a role in the green tint too
i personaly love the tint so much i dont glass with anything else…call me a kook…that just what i like …i think its cromium(sp) its a nasty chemical that makes treated lumber green too i think…but i like it
The fabric is coated with a coupling agent (also called sising) so the resin bonds to the glass. The coupling agent>Methacrylato chromic chloride gives it its distinctive Coke bottle green tint.
