Surfboard manufacturers have been waiting 3 months+ for volan here in Australia and that some are stockpiling it.
There is a rumour that Dupont are not making it for environmental / manufacturing toxicity issues.
Anyone aware of any issues with volan glass going forward?

Volan is adheres chemically to the cloth through sort of a wash… DuPont like a lot of companies right now is practicing inventory reduction. Meaning if the cloth manufacturers are not ordering enough to meet batch requirements then its not gonna get made. Here’s a public technical sheet for volan. I’ll let you know if I here anything else.

this has been discussed in years past here on Sways, yet volan cloth is still around. Volan finish cloth is made using chromium. In the USA the govt has regulations and guidelines for chromium, so that may be the source of the rumor. Not sure those regs apply to volan cloth or its use or manufacture, but possibly. It may also be simply that less is being manufactured because its not in demand as much as it used to be. I haven’t had problems finding it here, but then I hardly ever use it…
