i have a 6’4" Hynson BK quad fish measuring 16 7/16 21 13/16 17 5/8 and i looking at getting a 6’0" Hynson BK ll that measures 15 9/16 20 11/16 16 1/4 for a faster dumping beach break wave. when i plug those numbers into AkuShaper the volume difference between the two boards is about 4 1/2 liters or 12.5%. i weigh 180lbs and am 6’ tall and don’t want to make such a huge jump in size that i regret my purchase. so my question, is this a reasonable jump down in size or should i be looking for something in between the two?
thanks,
bandito
You gotta make the jump one day. That is a big difference in volume but for the break you described, shouldnt be that big of a deal. might work better actually if it is a bit thinner.
is the 6’0" Black Knight ll in the size range that someone like myself at 6’ and 180lbs would expect to ride. i’m just worried about it being too small and not much fun considering the board is 9/8’ smaller in the nose, 1 1/8" in the middle and 1 3/8" smaller in the tail as well as being 4" shorter. if that’s an average size board of that style for someone my size then i’ll go for it.
thanks,
bandito
Short answer is the 6'0'' should be fine, assuming your reasonably fit and experienced.
