Walnut Bonzer Twins

I made two bonzer fives. During the construction of the first, using knotty French walnut, the veneer curled up when I rolled the epoxy on. I had to throw it in the vac bag anyways. Usually the vac bag will press out small bumps in the veneer but this time they were too big, especially on the deck (convex surface). The bottom had depressions that I just filled with resin. The deck had ridge that I had to grind down (to the foam). I painted to match. I figure it will be passable, covered in wax anyways. Bottom looks good.

The second was figured American Walnut and it came out pretty incredible. The wood figure really shimmers in the sun.

Both came out fairly light , considering all the glass on fins and the fact that this build method is pretty dent proof- around 7lbs each, including all fins.

This nice one is for sale. If you’re interested or know someone who is PM me.

The first one. I will take it for a maiden voyage this week. Surf forecast says 1-1/2 to DOH. Might not be enough board - both bonzers are 6’-1".

Stunning boards! I’d love to hear how you got on with the swell that was forecast.

Incredible. Absolutely beautiful.

I sold the nice one and went to a spot that was not really catching the swell with the green railed one, but on the couple chest high waves I felt the bonzermagic. It’s been a few years since I had a bonzer. I’ve been on a twinzer kick. But the bonzer has a really smooth, carvey feel.
