WARNING! Ban Brom Boards

they should be BANNED! his Fish is the most addicting board. it is going to get me fired, divorced, broke…but happy. really, they should not be legal. they are too fast, too fun, too good. please, someone stop Steve before he shapes you one. it is not pretty once you get it. you will not want to do anything else but ride that thing. BEWARE!!!

man i don’t even need one of his boards for this to be a problem with a good swell kicks up [wink]

…Steve’s a great designer/shaper,I base alot of my fish shapes on his stuff. That’s why I get tons of inquires on how to… and can yous… to fill the Trump tower,NO JOKE!!!Herb

got any weblinks to his stuff?

http://www.surfenginez.com/ the guys a freak

holy crap those are hot! need to save the pennies

Worth every Penny SteveA

yes – incredible board! i predict you all get addicted…

When I ride my Brom Fish I dont wear a wet suit because Im just so fired up! the thing catches so many waves and makes rediculous sections and paddles like a dream, who the hell needs to go to the Gym? -ENQUIRER SURF- Mr Brom is looking into ceramic tiles used by NASA on the outside of the space shuttle.

I’ll back up all that has been said about Steve. An accomplished small boat designer / builder by trade, Steve still puts out surfboards of the highest quality, whether it be the old school twin keel fish from the original templates from 1971, or contemporary. I’ve never seen anything but the highest quality glassing, he won’t stand for it, Period. He’s sharing a shaping facility with the great Wayne Rich, in what’s left of the funk zone in the Santa Barbara Waterfront (NO MORE CONDOS). The Underground Lives Here :} .

…You can find the glazing in liquid form.Expensive YES,but worth it!!! Ask people about my 95’ truck w/ over 150,000 miles on it.A lot of high speed miles at that!!! You can still see the factory orange peel in the paint job.Great benefits for surfboard use too!!! Steve’s catching up to me for once!!! Herb

I’m not trying to take away from the mystique here but after meeting Steve and looking at some of his stuff, I left his shop thinking he was a smart guy. I had a chance to view a plug he was doing for a kayak and bits and pieces of some other stuff. The level of craftsmanship was obvious in everything I saw.

Thanks, John It is an honorable challenge, and I aim to please. Sorry about the addictions! Steve Brom

Very interesting boards…but, sorry for the ignorant question, are traditional fish boards (Brom, Frye etc.) good for beachbreaks kine stuff?

I saw Dan Malloy @ Rincon the other day riding a twin keel fish. He looked very confident while others were having troubles w/ the gas peddle. As in most situations, it;s more the surfer than the board.

i’m guessing it was on his green CI. i know he’s been riding a clear, well kinda opaque white tri fin fish type board we lent to him at rincon as well. wondering if you have seen him on it, and if so any input to how it was working.thanks…

I.ve had a Brom shaped Dyno 5.10" for years it’s always been a fun trip to Electric Ladyland whenever I ride it maybe I’ll take it out today Hum… I remember when there wasn’t many riding a fish let alone shaping one now it’s common to see kids riding them! Kinda like when I didn’t see any black kids riding skateboards now their riding them too…Let’s see whats going to be next hum…How’s about all the people on this planet to quit treating each other like shit and just live their lives in peace, image that, ah who am I kidding…

green twinfin- he was drawing nice lines

i asked steve to shape me a fish for east coast beach break waves – mostly mushy and waist to chest (but a board that could also handle it when it got a little bigger, cleaner, faster etc). needless to say, steve delivered. no he over delivered in every aspect. from understanding my needs/wants, to getting me a fantastic board, to walking me through getting it wired (i have it far, very far, from wired.) last 6 sessions here on east coast (i’ve also had a number in so cal on a longboard) have been on the brom fish. some days head high plus, other days very clean and waist to chest. the fish handles it all. the more i understand the board the more the board seems to get it. i have not even tapped any of its potential. it paddles like my longboard and catches waves nearly as well. the biggest transition was actually taking off…i am used to early take-offs…you can pretty much take off and make most waves at any time on the fish. front side and backside. it will bottom turn, hang as high as you can and as long as you can in the wave face, will to roundhouse cutbacks with ease and when necessary you can pull cheater 5s to stay in trim. seems like it can do anything. trust me, i have only ridden it 6 times, and it has done all of the above. to answer you question, “does the fish work in beachbreaks?” YES. I can’t imagine it not working in most any waves up to head high. i have not been this excited about a new surf vehicle since i got my first neumatic.
