Warvel WMD 5'-11" Quad

Pics of 5’-11" Diamond Tail Lokbox Quad from the new Warvel/Greg Loehr Multi Density Core blank. The blank has 5 lb MDI PU rails with 1.5 lb EPS between the perimeter stringers. Glassed with Impact 3.1 oz glass from Graphite Master. Impact 3.1 has something like a 60 x 60 thread count. It would be great for Compsands. 2 layers on the bottom and 3 on the top. Came in at a little over 5 lbs. It has been surfed by my teenage son about 20 times now and no dings. He was skeptical of the perimeter stringer/multi density thing at first but he loves the way the board rides.

BTW the dims on the board are 12 x 19 x 15 x 2-1/4.

very nice…looks like a really fun board…have you ridden it? how does it feel…flex wise?

Wroboman,

I wish I could still ride a 5-11! A short board to me now is my 10’ SUP.

ha…nice

i know a lot of snowboard companies have gone this direction…getting a stiffer material (carbon/kevlar/etc) toward the edges allowing the board to flex where your feet are while holding down a carve…ive had a chance to ride a bunch of those boards and its pretty nice…just wondering if the same is noticed in the surf arena

Interestingly, kiteboards are going in the opposite direction: stiffening the foot area so you don’t mush into the water & lose power, but softening the ends so you can deal with rougher water.
