Washing and drying wetsuits

I had a camera in my pocket while I was washing out my wetsuit this morning.

The best way I’ve found to keep my suit in good shape, no shoulder rips, and best of all, not stinky. Start with a $2.50 home depot bucket, water and some laundry soap.

Wetsuit in the bucket, pour a ounce of soap in the sleeve, then stick the garden hose in the sleeve to mix the soap, and fill it up.

Let it soak for 5 minutes. Mix it around a bit.

Look for someplace to hang it. Between two walls, across two ladders, across tree branches.

This is my spot.

Slide a broomstick through the arms. Have a bit of the stick poking out on both ends.

When the wetsuit hangs like this, air can circulate inside it, and it doesn’t stress the shoulders like a hanger would.

I rinse mine off at the beach shower after surfing, occasional bucket soak maybe once a month, hang on a wooden clothes hanger to dry. They last for years! Love my wetsuits like I love my boards

Thanks everysurfer. I ususally just rinse and they smell like it. Ha.

When I worked at the water ski school my job was sometimes to clean the wet suits. If you use a bigger container like a rubbermaid tub put in the suits and the soap and get in with them and step up and down on the suits to agitate. It works good to get them really clean. You’ll be surprised at the color of the water.

Yellow?

And yellow to you Mr. Tate…Howzit?

Nice Everysurfer

hahaha at TBlank

I fold mine in half and hang it my over my chinup bar.
It gets afternoon wind but no direct sunlight.
Next day, I turn it inside out and do it again.
After that it goes in the shed until needed.

TBlank, you out-smartassed me. Love it.

All the best

Mr. Tate, if you saw the size of it you would say I out assed most. And the best to you and yours. heeheehee to Mr. ChrisP.

Absolute best way to dry a wetsuit is to hang it over a dehumidifier. I use a towel rack so both legs and arms hang down, no stress on the shoulders, no need to shove a stick thru the sleeves or pry a hanger in and out the neck opening. Never wear a damp wetsuit again. Oh yeah no stinky stinky either, not even booties.
Ps laundry soap is too harsh, I use a mild shampoo… baby your wetsuits, they aren’t cheap.
