Now it is low to mid 60s. I would say a good bet would be ±60 around that time.

3/2 full wetsuit is the norm, boots optional depending on sand or rocks. No matter how cold it may be, there is always one guy out who just skins it.
The really critical factor is the air temp. It is not unheard of or even unusual to actually have summer like weather right around Christmas time here in San Diego.
Santa Anas produce daytime air temps in the 80s and warm dry offshore winds. That makes a big difference if the water temp is in the low 60s, turning what would otherwise be a drab, miserable, cold, gray, and dreary onshore day into a bitchen experience!
So pray for those Santa Anas, and if we’re really lucky there will also be a decent swell to accompany them!
