I’m getting ready for my first hotcoat. I’ve read about wax and styrene in the archives. I have a can of Wax in styrine. Do I just have to mix this with resin and catalyst to get a hotcoat or is it necessary to add styrene?
thanks

Howzit jangali, Does it actually say wax in styrene on the can? Where did you get it, the label should say surfacing agent. But if it is S.A. then yes you need to add to your resin for a hot coat.Aloha, Kokua
Ok, I got it from the company Seabase in France. It says “Wax in Styrene 1866, 125 gms Wax in Styrene 6%”. Can I also use this to make a hotcoat or should I skip this (first time board making attempt) and go for a sanded finish. What is the best method for a sanded finish, just sand to a 400 grit?
thank you
