Wayne’s boards are finally available in the states again. this time they’re being done his way, not super expensive and marketed towards Hollywood(Evo). He’s got an unreal series of single fins that are based on his boards from the '70’s and early '80’s. Wayne’s not a retro guy so he updated the boards with everything that’s been going on since. I’ve ridden one and it’s insane. totally different feel than the modern chip-drive! He’s got single fins ranging from small wave grovellers to epic guns. Wayne’s hybrid design goes off too. it’s basically a big guy shortboard(tri) that Wayne’s come up with over the years. It incorporates some positive aspects of the single fins with today’s thrusters. Wayne’s not afraid to step out of the box and shape what he knows will work. 40 years later and he still really only cares about how they work. It was very important to Wayne that people understand the last incarnation of his label(evolution) was not his vision and actually bummed him out big time. He has obviously legally removed his name from that situation and finally decided to try again. I(Tim Griffin) shaped for Wayne under the old label and am now fortunate enough to work with Wayne again. We’re based out of Oceanside, CA. The board’s are what matter, not the marketing machine. Anyone who’s seen Wayne surf knows that he’s motivated by progression. At 57 years old he’s still the best surfer in the water on most days! There should be a website to check the boards out soon. waynelynchsurfboards.us will be the site in the states and waynelynchsurfboards.com will be Waynes site in Australia. they’ll also be available in select shops, so keep an eye out for them!
I have a 7’0 hybrid by wayne (custom) it goes unreal , wayne is a nice bloke to deal with as well.
I still have an old Evo fun shape, round tail with pointed nose. Really surf’s well. Wayne Lynch is a great designer besides being an all time great surfer!
you can check out some of the single fins at Icons of Surf in San Clemente. they’ll be getting their first batch this week. keep surfing.
Those are absolutely gorgeous outlines…such excellent curve throughout. Unreal!
Wayne’s boards ride as nice as they look!
I have no doubt.
Funny, just when you think you’ve seen everything, something like these show up and set my mind aflutter with possblities and new inspiration…nice…very nice.
…I’d love to see the profile on these…any pics of foil?
Any word on whether he’ll be making modern thrusters rather than only retro boards? Rode a 6’8 rounded pin thruster and it was absolutely unreal. Are custom orders available? Any word on what shops his boards are available through?
I should have Wayne’s travel guns and performance shortboard in the next few months. He’s working on them now. You can custom order through me.
