Somewhere that the complete basics can be discussed.
There is the FAQ,Beginners Area, Read First http://www.swaylocks.com/forums/faqbeginners-area-read-first-sticky-thread
Those links to threads are pretty solid??
Sorry, you’re right Marsh !
Oh, really? All I get from the content of the link is, ‘‘the requested page can not be found.’’ Surffoils is right, we DO need something ‘‘nooby’’ specific.
Sounds like a great idea. One could cover making templets, skinning a blank, outlining, etc., but there are a number of videos that cover that stuff. Maybe a build-along section would help.
Oneula and I gathered a bunch of stuff from the old days (early Swaylocks posts) and put it somewhere. I have a personal tips Word Doc I could share.
a beginners forum area with specific thread titles (basics shaping tools, how to glass, how to hot coat etc) would be awesome.
there is so much info here, but it’s often buried. a little organization would be fantastic.
It does seem some of the links are gone now…

True. Especially when all those grumpy old guys start arguing and things go way off topic.
Thought maybe let this slide.
However it is best to"search" the Swaylock's archieves first, you’ll get a answer quick and save face. If you fail to find your quest here reseach outside of Sway’s. Then if you are still puzzled ask!
We do not need a Noods Page… If you are new…welcome to Swaylocks.com…Please do a search first…that’s all.
…Don’t find what you need or get confused because there’s too much information ???..ask a question…big or small…work it from there…
…and surfing waves big or small is the goal…not some wall hanger surfboard that you shaped…
go surfing…get stoked…build a surfboard…Stingray.
That’s what this place is, a place for neophytes. Anyone with half a brain and makes boards for a living doesn’t post here regularly. Some of the guys who post here don’t even make boards they just talk about them, like they have been making boards their whole lives. I like the arguments and the pontificating best around here. People say: “You can’t argue with a moron,” but that’s about the most fun that goes on around here. I think I am going to start posting on a construction site, and act like I know about building houses; for the most part of my life I have lived in one, so that should make me an expert. Anyhow have fun.
People that tell the blunt truth make me laugh. That was funny grat. Probably over generalized, but funny. Mike
If you are willing to spend time going through the results, you’ll find a lot of good stuff through the search function.
EPS with poly glass ? found this "Cerex Nylon 6,6 N-Fusion surfacing veils Titanium Oxide White under vacuum bag
im not here often but its easy enough to see that the community spirit isnt spread by people like Ghettorat, always peeing on others for not being as good as him, or for not knowing enough , or for just being a beginner. Hes just a spreader of ridicule and cheap shots.
who cares if someone makes hi tech boards? or how many ?
if others are interested in talking about boards, whether they know a lot or not, designing them or dreaming about them, or making fins, or collecting boards or anything to do with surfcraft they should be included, thats why its a forum, its open to everyone. But not open for people to enjoy because youre always with the negatives, dragging people down, dragging the forum down.
And thats whats wrong with Sways at the moment, everyone used to be here to help and sometimes argue points but always to listen and give their best.
Now its just a shooting gallery for the ‘know it alls’ to drive people away and prove how great they are. Its gone too far for average people to be able to enjoy being here.
Its not the friendly Sways it used to be.
Its not much trouble, and makes the board stronger and lighter.
You just have to think a little more to get it right.
I’ve learned a lot about board building and design from a lot of folks here. I’ve taken the opportunity to try some of it out with my own boards and I hope to try out more techniques. I’ve learned things here I would never have been able to learn on my own or in 90% of the professional shops who do this every day for a living. I appreciate new info regardless of the source.
Interestingly enough, as excellent as I’m sure GRat’s work is, I don’t recall ever seeing him post anything I didn’t already know.

Yeah brother, probably less stress than the tread mentioned previously.
Read thru the novel in the “sin bin” and so OPS just PM you.
Let’s move on, Holy crap!

Sometimes it just isn’t worth the drama.
