Can I use the green can of non-flamable Weldwood contact cement that has lower VOC’s and claims to be more environmentally friendly? Or is the solvent based original red can the end-all/be-all for gluing out rail strips on a HWS?
Just asking before I spend $27 plus tax on a gallon.
used the non-VOC green version for skins when I was skinning using veneers never used it for rails.
pretty close to the same tack strength maybe doing a thicker layer would help.
even though they said there wasn’t any stinky fumes to deal with there was still some fumes that required ventilation.
could be any worse than using 3M super77 or super90 spray adhesinve to build out your rails which I did on my last build rail build out using 1/8" cork and 1/8" cedar strips and the cedar was harder to bend than balsa. But balsa sucks most liquids up more than cedar.
