So I’m walking down the street this evening in San Pedro going to get a bite to eat…
Shops line the street. I’m headed for some cheap Mexican food. I peer into one of
the shops that line the street and see a bunch of 1970’s single fins. I think…hmmm…
someones collection. My eyes continued dancing…everything seemed to be 1970’s
vintage…t shirts…braided hemp plant hangers…posters…mexican ponchos…advertisements…
a pinball machine…I wasn’t sure what to make of it. A guy standing in front of the shop
explained that they were recreating a 1970’s surf shop for a movie…Something called “…Dogtown…???”.
what a trip.
Anyone know anything about this?
Hi nathan,
The film is called “Lords of Dogtown”…
“The Lords of Dogtown” is a fictionalized version of the 2001 documentary feature “Dogtown and Z-Boys” and is based on a Spin magazine article that explored 1970s skateboarding culture. It follows a group of young California surfers who take their style to the streets as skateboarders, thereby launching a whole new sport that defined a generation."
Including screenwriter and skating legend Stacy Peralta.

(I recently completed a series of custom surf mats for Lords of Dogtown/Sony Pictures via Craig R. Stecyk… currently in use by LOD stuntmen.)
