What glue would you use to re-stick a traction pad???
contact adhesive/ cement.
brown, thin, sticky stuff. follow the instructions and it will not come off again.
ie; dry, clean, (lightly sanded surface to be sure of cleanliness). thin app. on each surface left to dry to 95% dry. bring together with some pressure. wolla.
3m spray adhesive, got it at wal-mart
The pads I use are peel-and-stick with 3M adhesive already applied.
Oops…sorry: wasn’t paying close enough attention.
I’ve used “Shoe-Goo”, but only because I already had an open tube of it around and wanted to use it before it hardened up (limited shelf life once the tube is open).
Other than that, I would have to second flatspell’s recommendation of 3M: good stuff.
I did the contact cement. Its never coming off again.

Hi everyone im rather new to the forum, i did do research …now… my only problem is, my shaper told me as stated above alll the options.
if i use superglue , in my experince using it on other things is that it drys very hard, so i was wondering how difficult it would be in a time that i want to sell the board and want to strip it and clean it up , i dont want the pad to be glued shut and risk of damaging the board in the process. this only worries me because the adhesive on the pad is soft and with heat comes off easily for cleanup(maybe thats why its coming off) s
SHOE GOO as someone stated is the best option as i can remember it being pretty soft to razor offf.
please help really want to get out today and the pad gets worse and worse , but i dont want to apply super glue in case i ever want to clean everything (wax, pad.adhesive) to sell the board
THANKS
I used super glue and quite frankly it was terrible. It flaked right off when the pad finally let go so no issue there. The real question is why are you stripping off a old traction pad? Unless you did some kooky placing of the pad or it is flapping around like a flag, no one is going to not buy a board because of a traction pad. They are relatively cheap enough and easy to apply/remove.
FYI - Contact cement is essentially the same thing as wetsuit glue. The stuff that O’Neill used to sell as “Black Gold”. Apply a coat, and let dry for 15 mins. Apply second coat, dry 10 mins, and press pieces together firmly. For a traction pad I’d use a hard rubber roller to apply pressure…
weld wood contact cement from your home improvement center.
Hydroturf recommend this glue for their non psa mats.

thanks guys , @rideofwaves i didnt take the pad off its coming off, so i wanted to fix it, and was asking if super glue the way it dries is a good option, just to be ok …thanks for all the info , will take care of it tom.
bless, happy holidays
I bought a board with the pad too far up. I ripped it off but the center part must have come loose and been re-attached with superglue. I literally had to chisel the rubber and glue off, even then I had to leave a lot of it as I was damaging the deck. Had to cover it over with a new pad.
