What grit sandpaper do YOU finish with?

I have been finish sanding my shapes with 200 grit sandpaper prior to glassing. I just started to wonder if 150 grit would be just as good…or better? I heard that you can actually go too fine when sanding foam, and it can actually cause the glass to not adhere as well. Thoughts out there on this?

150 for me and 120 for rails

120 all over then 220 on rails

what’s better for finishing…paper or screen??

…SCREEN is my preference,… …You can’t get it fine enough to make a failing bond, but you can make it heavier, and weaker by under sanding/screening it with coarse grits only! …I take mine down to 320,for airwork, and 600 for tints, and NEVER had a bonding problem, ever! …It’s a chemical fusion guys,it’s no longer a blank, fiberglass, resin ,box(s),deckplug …it all one structure…FUSED! (THIS IS W/ POLYESTER RESIN/POLYURETHANE FOAM,…epoxy and styrofoam is a adhesion, not a fusion).Herb

I fine sand to 100 on the flats and 120 on therails.I use both paper and screen. Some of my screen is nicely worn out and flexible…its treated like gold.Sometimes when doing opaque lams I cheat and stop at 80 grit. R. Brucker

180 to 220 overall screen and paper. Yes the nicely worn paper is gold. I also am building with epoxy with no lamination problems. Stay Solid
