What is Swaylocks?

What exactly is Swaylocks supposed to be? Just surfboards, longboards, fun boards, or? Ive even noticed a surprising amount of discussion on "alternative", really far out there stuff. Pretty shocking for a website supposedly devoted to surfboard design. Whats next? Waverunners, sunglasses and swim wear??? Who`s running this place anyway- the psychiatrists or the patients???

This is a place for people who love the surf and the many ways to ride it. It is full of people with innovative ideas and thoughts on creating the perfect tool for all conditions… and are willing to pass the knoledge to beginners like me, who have not a clue. I still have no idea what a “swaylock” is…but much respect and thanks to all who respond to my elementary shaping questions…thank you!

it is my guess that the name “swaylocks” was coined when one teenaged michael paler grew his hair long. it is probably the invention of a loving parent or grand-parent who then referred to the youngster as “my little swaylocks”! comments??>>>I still have no idea what a “swaylock” is… http://www.minwax.com/produse/clear/pucfpu1.htm

Define Swaylocks Mike! As for me the definition changes daily. That’s why I come here. Whether you’re conservative or liberal come on down. Surfin’ about freedom and what’s new, IMHO that what this site is about. I’ll be will to bet dollars to donuts that everyone will define it a little differently. If really want to know what’s going on here check the archives! Research and development continues, Mahalo, Rich

One day while meandering through the brush, a wanderer happened upon a pond of sweet, cool water. Word spread quickly. Many came to partake in the aqueous splendor of the little pond. Fragile grasses were trampled and shrubs pushed aside. Callous soles following the way of the wanderer rutted the earth. The beauty of the surrounding environment was forsaken as these new voyagers focused only on the dusty footsteps left by those before them. The life of the pond was eventually sucked dry, but the thirsty masses continued to visit the barren mud hole because it was all that they had come to know. A humble sage, foraging for herbs and berries, accidentally stumbled across the dirt path and the long line of people waiting for their turn at the evaporated pond. He paused for a moment and then continued off into the tall grasses. The locals laughed and called the sage a lost fool as he disappeared into the dense vegetation. The sage could only smile at the local’s laughter as it gently faded into the distance behind him. For he knew that it is sometimes necessary to travel perpendicular to conventional thought in order to find your own pond of sweet salvation.

…and sometimes a political forum. But, regardless, it’s usually high on stoke which usually goes a long way if you’re like me and work the 9-5 office gig.>>> What exactly is Swaylocks supposed to be? Dear “y”, Just how much of that acid DID you take before you > wrote this?>>> DW Dewey, it very well may be Mr. Tom Morey

Dear “y”, Just how much of that acid DID you take before you > wrote this?>>> DW Dear Dewey- Sorry, no acid for me. I’ve never had the urge to experiment with man-made hallucinogens. Surfing is the only mind-expanding experience I need. A lack of sleep and too much dry time on land is likely reason why my story reeks of that altered-state-of-mind vibe. Jim Phillips- My apologies for any confusion, I’m not the Tom Morey “Y”. I’m just a Swaylock’s local trying to post incognito. I totally spaced on the alias name. As soon as I hit the “Post Message” button, I instantly remembered that Mr. Morey was already using “Y”. I have great admiration for the man. Next time I’ll go with “Z”.

It’s where I go to talk to friends I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting.

I googled "what is swaylocks", just for the halibut.  This thread is what I got.
