If an intermediate surfer wants a light modern longboard that’s agile, yet user friendly, he might start with a pro style HP design and:
-
Keep the thin foil and narrow nose for agility and comfort in bigger surf. A bit wider tail to avoid accidental stalling.
-
Add a bit of tail rocker to trade some speed for agility.
-
Add a bit more nose rocker (like the hawaians have) instead of noseriding specific concaves or low rocker (like the pointbreak riders have) to make the bigger beach&reef drops.
-
Keep the thin rails (because when longboard catches some 7 feet of rail, no rail thickness will help).
-
However, might consider a slight bevel that rises the rails slightly above the bottom. At least in the first third or half of the board.
These are just assumptions. Any views (like which popular HP desing is the most forgiving) are appreciated. Thanks.
