What paint can u use on a blank?

What kind of paint are you able to use on a blank. I am not really refering to airbrush, I want to know what you can use with brushes on a blank to add designs. I’ve heard somewhere that you can use waterbased acrillic paint, but I am not sure. How long do you have to wait for it to dry, so you can glass the board and not have the paint run? Please let me know!!! thanks.

Water based acrylic is Ok. Drying time is until it doesn’t feel wet any more. It depends on how much water you use with the acrylic. I did a wash of browns and yellows to simulate wood on my blank and used lots of water. I let it dry a week before glassing. There are some things you can do to help things along a bit like using a hair dryer on a low heat setting. Too much paint can cause delaminations and too much water can cause mush and change foam shape so be careful! Experiment on some cheaper grom boards first is my suggestion.

Water based acrylic is best, water based screenprint ink works good to, I have had best results with nova color www.novacolor.com they are in LA the paints aply east have lots of POP and glass over very well, Watch some reds with other companies, I work at a glassshop and have seen a few reds crystalize under glass. http://paradoxdistribution.com

I have use acrylic with brushes onto a blank the paint was OK but the brush strokes on the blank where a bit of a problem. I will be trying the Pocsa pens next. I will be using them on the blank. If anyone has experience with this method good or bad or any tips please let me know. Cheers

poscas crush the foam they are not very good to use on the blank.I tried them a few times with lackluster results. http://paradoxdistribution.com
